Alex Pacheco

I’m the Associate CIO for Advanced Research Computing at New Jersey Institute of Technology. My division oversees the IT need for Research across campus providing access to High Performance Computing clusters, data storage, cloud computing resources, virtual machines and database servers for the research and academic community at NJIT.

I began my career as a HPC User Services Consultant in 2010 with HPC@LSU and LONI before joining Lehigh University as the Manager of Research Computing in 2014. Over the years, I have assisted researchers and administrators with

  • Building codes on HPC clusters.
  • Installation and use of software packages on HPC clusters.
  • Troubleshooting problems running jobs on HPC clusters.
  • Providing Training to new and advanced users.
  • Maintaining Grid Services.
  • Design, build and install HPC clusters.

In a previous life, I was a computational chemist with interest in Ab-Initio Molcular Dynamics, Spectroscopy, and Scientific Computing. I program in Fortran, bash and tcsh, OpenMP and OpenACC.
